Leaving Quito after breakfast we head south on the Pan-American highway to Cotopaxi National Park, home to the highest active volcano in the world, Cotopaxi, which stands majestically at 5897m, its near perfect conical form now world renowned. We head up the track to the car park, just a few meters below the mountain refuge.
From here begins the most exhilarating ride of your lifetime. Double-check your brakes (though we will have done it several times before hand as part of our routine safety inspection), before you hurtle off on an incredible descent, flying around hairpins and bouncing over the rocky volcanic trail. En route we will eat lunch, and after the descent we will head back to Quito.
