CLIMBING TOUR - CHIMBORAZO 6310mts
PLEASE NOTE: We offer our clients the flexibility of any day departures with two or more people (for individuals there is a one person supplement).
Chimborazo is the highest mountain in the Ecuadorian Andes, and due to its position close to the equator, its summit is the furthest point from the center of the earth. Climbing Chimborazo will present a challenge to even the most experienced mountaineer; it is a technically relatively easy to moderate climb, but the long approach to reach the peak will certainly test physical limits. Proper acclimatization is an absolute must as is excellent physical condition. But it's worth it, as looking north, views of the active smoking Tungurahua maybe possible.
Day 1:
Departing from Quito we head south down the Panamerican Highway until you reach Ambato. 60 km further we turn southeast to arrive to the Carrel Refuge at 4800mts. A short trek will take us to the Whymper Hut at 5000m. Dinner and sleep.
Day 2:
Before midnight we breakfast and commence the standard route to the top. It will take you around 8 to 9 hours to reach the summit where you can enjoy a great view of the crater and the surrounding peaks. The descent to the refuge will take a further 2 to 3 hours from where we will return to Quito.
We provide certified ASEGUIM mountain guides, one for every two clients.
We climb every mountain in Ecuador as well as other peaks around the continent; we organize expeditions to: Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina (Aconcagua) amongst other destinations. For more information about our international or national expeditions please feel free to contact us at:
