CLIMBING ILINIZA SOUTH 5266mts
To climb Iliniza South requires good technical ability for mixed climbing. You should know how to climb on ice and on rock, and be in excellent physical shape. This mountain is far more technical than Cotopaxi or Chimborazo. Day 1: Depart from Quito at 10:00a.m and drive approx. 3 hours to la Virgen below the mountain refuge. Box lunch. We then hike up to the refuge at 4.600mts. And have a safety briefing in the afternoon. Dinner, overnight.
Day 2: After a very early breakfast at 4:00 a.m. we climb to the summit, which should take around 4 to 6 hours, weather permitting. We take snacks for eating en route. Reaching the summit will be a grand achievement and after congratulations we will descend to the refuge (approx 2 hours). Return to Quito.
We provide certified ASEGUIM mountain guides, one for every two clients.
