ABOUT ECUADOR

Ecuador is a tiny country on the Pacific coast of South America, with an area around half the size of Great Britain. Its beauty lies not just in having the oldest South American Indian cultures in existence, nor in the fact its has an excellent tourist infrastructure that will provide any traveler with the comfort they seek, but the fact Ecuador is the most bio diverse country on the planet, and as such offers an enormous variety of activities for any holiday.

This little corner of paradise offers a little of everything to be found on the continent; visit lush tropical Amazonian rainforests on the eastern flank of the Andes; climb glaciated volcano peaks on the equator, relax on the sun drench beaches of the pacific coast, or cruise in search of endemics on the Galapagos Islands. Everything to be found on the continent can be found in Ecuador, in a country so small, you can leave the Andes and wake up to the crash of waves on a beach, or head east and awake to the cacophonous song of tropical birds as the sun rises over the misty jungle tree tops.

Furthermore, Ecuador ranks alongside Argentina and Chile as one of the safest travel destinations in South America, and as a result has experienced a steady growth in its tourism industry, now a key industry for Ecuador's economy.

Dear Rafael :

Blake and I wanted to send you a quick email about our hiking tour we took a few weeks ago.

(We're finally managing to sit down at a computer...things have been busy back home!)

We cannot thank you enough for the fantastic and unforgettable time we had on our tour. From pick up to drop off, everything was great. Our guide, Ivan (spelling?) was so considerate and professional; we always felt we were in good hands. The food was delicious, and the lodgings comfortable. It was such a relief to be able to rent most of the gear - and the boots were really comfortable! It was an experience we'll never forget...and hopefully we'll be back someday...for Chimborazo maybe? :)

I've attached some pictures for you guys. Thanks again for everything. If we hear of anyone traveling to Ecuador...we'll certainly send them your way.
